The annual EDGEWOOD HERITAGE FESTIVAL AND BAZAAR is a one-day celebration in the Heritage Park Museum and on the streets of Edgewood, November 8, 2008 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 4:00 p.m.

A variety of entertainment will be on tap for the event that is hailed by folks near and far as a "must".  It is truly a down-home cultural experience that offers something for everyone.

THE EDGEWOOD HERITAGE FESTIVAL is the major fund raising effort by the Edgewood Historical Society in its quest to maintain Heritage Park Museum - an architectural exhibit of 20 restored and furnished structures reminiscent of rural Van Zandt County around 1900.

About Edgewood Heritage Park

Edgewood Heritage Park was founded in 1976 as a bi-centennial ongoing project that is owned and operated by the Edgewood Historical Society. This outdoor museum encompasses authentically restored and furnished structures representing rural life in East Texas circa 1900 and is situated on 17 lots in the center of Edgewood (on US Hwy 80 -- 50 miles east of Dallas.)

The purpose of the museum is to preserve the rural culture and architectural heritage of East Texas to ensure present and future generations an opportunity to study and celebrate their heritage through the authentic architectural exhibits.

The Village is the focal point of Downtown Edgewood, covering parts of three downtown city blocks, and is the site for many community celebrations. It is the destination of tourists in search of an historical attraction void of the hustle and bustle associated with the metropolitan areas.

Educational programs are offered to schools with the emphasis on the third and fourth grades. During the tours, students experience activities of yesteryear through demonstrations by costumed and trained docents. The film industry has chosen this quiet, rural village as the setting for scenes in several television productions.

The village church and grounds are popular sites for weddings.
